What is Powdercoating?
Powdercoating is an advanced decorative and protective finish which can be
used on a wide range of items and materials. The powder is
a mixture of fine pieces of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto the surface
to be coated. The charged powder pieces stick to the electrically grounded surface
until they are baked into a smooth coating in our custom curing oven. The end
result is a very attractive, durable, high-quality finish. Click here for a list
of possible applications for powder coating technology.
Why Powdercoating?More Durable, More VersatilePowder coating gives one of the most economical, longest-lasting, and most color-durable high-quality finishes available. Powdercoated surfaces are more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes. Color selection is virtually unlimited with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, and rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections. Better for the Environment Powder coating is also highly protective of our environment. Most liquid finishes (such as paint) contain solvents which have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Powdercoating contains no solvents and releases negligible amounts, if any, of VOCs into the atmosphere. Also, the overspray that does not adhere can be retrieved and reused, virtually eliminating the waste commonly found in liquid finishing processes. |
